For all the Military Fathers – in the field and with children in the field

I took a little time after Memorial Day this year to sit down and think about all the troops out there. As Father’s Day is coming up, I started to wonder how many fathers were out in the field. Then I wondered how many fathers were at home wondering about their sons and daughters around the world, serving their country in the armed forces. I didn’t come up with an exact number, but I imagine it’s huge. That’s a lot to think about as Father’s Day rolls around this year.

My thinking started going in the direction of wondering what could be done to not only honor fathers, but fathers IN the military, and fathers with children in the military. Couldn’t something a little extra special be done? Being away from your family is a huge thing. I just think it would be great for media (newspapers and cable news) to do something special for our troops this Father’s Day. Do you agree with me? Should we start a letter writing campaign? We have a lot of power if we put our voices together.
The media needs to listen to us. They can’t just keep doing their so-so job on covering the military and troops around the world. I have a feeling that there are a LOT of you out there that agree with me. If you do, take the time to leave a comment here AFTER you’ve written or called your local media to let them know that you DEMAND better coverage of the troops and maybe something a little special for this Father’s Day. Are you with me?
Sgt. Stryker signing out.
