Like any responsible Communications Director of a successful charitable organization, I receive alerts when the name of our organization shows up on the Internet…this morning’s blast of ‘places yet to discover’ included SgtStryker’s blog, so I decided to sign up, and say a “Hello” from USA Cares.

My first and most important responsibility is to bring information to our military service members…and when I say service members, I mean all of you out there…Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Air Guard, National Guard and Reserves. USA Cares is here to assist all branches of the military.

We have partnered with AAFES in the Gifts from the Homefront program, but our claim to fame is the 6,500 plus requests we have received and the persons we have assisted. This is REAL and RELEVANT assistance, saving homes from foreclosure, putting food on the table, keeping the lights on, helping families support their injured service members…and also, saving service members owned homes from foreclosure. Over 3M in support directly from USA Cares with millions in addition resourced support.

Id like to mention right now that USA Cares DOES NOT LOAN any monies, we grant monies, …your service to this nation is your membership.

As wonderful as it is to provide gifts, USA Cares focuses on providing the ‘Meat and Potatoes’ type of support that helps a family in crisis.

I cannot pretend that we assist with every issue. USA Cares acts as a good steward to the monies donated, but balances all requests with understanding and compassion. Several persons in our organization, more than 90% have lived the military life, either as a family member or a service member themselves.
